# Relocate employee's department & location

#### Relocate to a new department

You can relocate your employee from one department to another department.

Step 1 - Go to HR hub \> People \> Directory

Step 2 - Look for the employee and click on the pencil icon beside Department

Step 3 - Select the new department in the "**Relocate to**" field

Step 4 - Click "**Save**"

**Note**: If their new department is not listed in the dropdown list, you can always manage it by [editing the Department](https://help.swingvy.com/knowledge/manage-departments?hsLang=en)

#### Relocate to a new location

If an employee moves and wants their records to be moved with them to another location within the same company, you can change the location affiliation of the employee's record.

Step 1 - Go to HR Hub \> People \> Directory

Step 2 - Look for the employee and click on the pencil icon beside the locations

Step 3 - Select the new branch in the "**New main location**" field

Step 4 - Click "**Save**"

Remember to [add new location](https://help.swingvy.com/knowledge/add-a-new-location?hsLang=en) before you can start to relocate your employee.

**Notes:**

2. If the employee was moved from the main branch to another location, they cannot be transferred back to the main branch. Please reach out to Swingvy for further assistance on this at support@swingvy.com.
